Heather Cameron Freedman is a costume designer and visual artist working in opera, theater, and film. She is a proud member of USA Local 829.

Heather's background in illustration makes drawing and painting an essential part of her interdisciplinary process. Her love of collaboration drew her to live performance and film. From 2015-2017, Heather was the Resident Fellow of Rhode Island School of Design’s (RISD) European Honors Program in Rome. There she collaborated on costume designs for William Kentridge and Kristin Jones’s Triumphs and Laments, an opera performed on the banks of the Tiber River. Heather works in opera, theatre and film, including assistant costume design for Glimmerglass Opera and Funny Girl at August Wilson Theatre on Broadway. Recent design highlights include costumes for Newtown Odyssey, a site-specific floating opera on an industrial waterway in NYC, and the world premiere of Play House by Alexa Derman. Upcoming work includes costume designs for Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi with NYU Steinhardt in Spring of 2024.
